Scholarships
The Frank R. Howard Foundation and the Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital Medical Staff have awarded their 2008 Nursing Scholarship to Hercules Campbell of Willits and to Carlene Shepard of Potter Valley. Dr. John Glyer and Dr. Monte Lieberfarb worked closely with the Howard Foundation in reviewing applicants and are proud to support local students. Both Hercules and Carlene are enrolled in the Mendocino College Nursing Program and will graduate in 2009. This scholarship is available on an annual basis for students beginning the program or who are already enrolled.
The benefits of this program help students with the cost of their schooling and provide very qualified new nurses for our local hospital. “Currently HMH employs several students from the local college and they are a great addition to the nursing staff,” stated Karen Scott, Vice President of Patient Care at Howard Hospital. Funds for the scholarship come directly from members of the medical staff and the Howard Foundation. This scholarship program has proved to be an effective tool to retain quality local nursing students in Willits. For more information on the 2009 program please contact Jann Lamprich at 459-2777.
